Barley Fields & Black Clouds...

By Scottishlandscapes
...after the fun of the Red Arrows filling the sky over Athelstaneford the more sedate image of the barley field but sadly no poppies in sight. More aerial antics will follow later.

I'm off out soon but back to play catch up later.

What a beauty of a shot Dougie. The beautiful colours of the barley against that mean sky. Like the movement captured in the barley too, and like the way the tree stands out against those clouds. Moira

A rather stunning layered landscape, captured so very well, from the foreground to the moody overhanging rain filled clouds, brilliant.

Lovely image Dougie. Well composed and gentle landscape and yet that brooding sky adds a touch of menace.

The colours of the ripening barley in the fields and that dark sky work so well - and that solitary tree couldn't be better placed! Super image Dougie! I don't mind about there being no poppies (I know you do tho') because the colours work so well as they are and I think splashes of red might spoil it for me...

Moira and Ann have said what I would have said so succinctly, Dougie: I agree with their remarks completely.
A lovely shot in every way.

More peaceful without the Red Arrows . . .
Love the line of trees on the horizon, each a soloist in its own right.

Harsh light from an angry sky - that really is quite a weather front coming over. One for the Met Office!

Bang on time for the lunch break at the air show.

Bill I noticed the trees the last time I was here but they stand out so much better against the sky this time. Top marks for noticing them.

Great contrast in the light between the dark and threatening sky and the lit and welcoming fields of the fg, Dougie. MArvellous light you found here.

Great composition Dougie you do give great examples of how a landscape should look and I try to follow your example when I can, the tree is well positioned and you have captured what looks like a very threatening skySmile
