Blaven Birch...

By Scottishlandscapes
...These trees have been here for many years and I've shot many images showing the colours and distance from Blaven in the BG. It was a crystal day on Skye and I decided to use the light for a monochrome image.

***Thanks to all for the comments yesterday on Slack Tide...and especially to Andylea for his user award.

This is just stunning.

Three trees and on a diagonal is great composition to start with, but throw in the side lighting, the wee house in the gap and the slightly out of focus mountains as a backdrop and you have great picture.

You don't often post mono landscapes for our enjoyment but they are invariably top-drawer images where the black and white points the excellence of the composition without distraction.
Here the falling line of the tree tops echoes the line of the ridge as well as framing the house while the bare trees revel in their structure, enhanced by the light glinting off their bark.
Sheer delight.

Yes, I saw this on Bill's screen just now, we were admiring it together.
I'm seeing quite a relationship here. The two trees on the left having a heated discussion, the third smaller one standing looking away, arms folded.
Lovely strong bright b&w.

That's Mum & Da having an argument while the wee lass plays with her hulla hoop.
I like the title change Moira.

Beautifully composed image. I can imagine you thinking, AHA! when you seen this site. The light on the trees is so beautiful. And it makes me want to know who lives in that house in this lovely part of the world.......Sandy

This would be special Dougie if you just straightened the foreground land up a bit. It appears on my screen to be sliding down hill a bit
Absolute perfection.

Awkward coot.

It is nearly 3D quality as Keith says. The house is positioned so well behind those beautiful trees and I do like the conversion to mono.
I agree about the strong light last week - some days it was really bright, but what a wonderful ten days after all the grey skies we've had in the south. I even got up at dawn on a couple of days.

Superlative photography Dougie. Beautiful light and a faultless composition. Has the feel of a medium format image with that square crop.

Jeremy Many Thanks for your User Award, it's always a great pleasure to receive an award from a fellow photographer.
People know that horseshoes are for good luck, none better than a farrier up close and personal with the shoes.
Thanks Again
