Defrost Required...

By Scottishlandscapes
...the layers of ice from the river had been forced up onto the land and formed a carpet of frozen panels. The ice was crackling and groaning in the watery sunlight.

Nicely composed, great reflection but it is the ice slabs that catch the eye.

What a great landscape you have up there, one day I will just have to make the effort to get myself up there.

I'm crackling and groaning just sitting here looking! Well, just crackling......Merely looking at the ice drops the temperature of my toes by 5 or so, they really need a defrost too.
Powerful composition matched by the words.

Freezing cold as it must have been, you would have been in your element up there with conditions like that if I'm not mistaken, Dougie: fabulous image that makes one chill over just looking, the ice floes dropping the temp. as I type........I'm away to switch on the central heating.

The foreground slabs of ice have a subtle light too - must have been a bit of a struggle to get to this location, but I'm so glad you did!!

OMG is this really happening right now? That looks colder than my freezer. I'd need a heated suit with a solar panel on top to generate the heat. If there even was one. A really beautiful image though and I must congratulate you on going out in that weather. ...........Sandy

Wow Dougie, you're getting out and about despite the weather. This is the sort of thing we softies in the south seldom capture, because we don't venture up there at this time of year. It's easier to heat the hall if you shut the door, but then we wouldn't get such treats if you did.Smile

I love this feeling of chilliness and some open water still around before the ice takes over

Is this from this winter Dougie??? Well... then Scotland has more of it than we have. Mild and not even driech - overcast but quite clear air... no snow... no ice... no Christmas mood...
Super capture, clear as a bell - one can feel the brisk cold!
