The Monument is a great focal point: leads my eyes into the picture to explore the loch. Did you use an ND grad for the sky? Still learning!

Nice shot, the smoke really does it for me!

the climb up the hill overlloking the monument is by a rocky waterfall of a path, and then the last 30 feet is up the hill no path, but worth it. The descent is slippy to say the least.

Well worth that climb up Dougie to get such a wonderful shot. I see there is still snow on the tops... looking forward to returning north.

Stunning! Another place I have been meaning to return too for ages...only been once, and without a camera!
Is this vantage point easily reached or are we talking 2 hours of hard lung-squeezing climbing?! Fantastic view.....will haveto give up the roll ups :-$
good work

Has it all,a quality landscape.

Andy...

There are those that talk photography

And there are those that do it.

Jeanie most of the snow vanished in the 16 deg heat this week-end, sorry

Angie, the climb is easy depending on the number of roll up's 10 mins for anybody normal less than 80. The last bit can be slippy but I did it so, go for it.

Iain, Been here a couple of times lately, the smoke made it for me. Cheers.

Andy, your comments are always kind and well received, cheers fellow doer and traveller.

Hello Dougie, I know the area well having been up the mountain on several occasions staking my patch for the steam train coming over the viaduct...lovely detail in your sky and good historical description.

A brilliant shot of this beautiful place. Could that be smoke from the train, or have they all gone diesel by now? My memory tells me that it's a long way to the top of the monument.

the steps I believe are harder than the hill I climbed to take this. Thigh numbing, I didn't even consider it.
All the best
