Island Ripples...

By Scottishlandscapes
...a few million years and the flow of the tide has ground the shells which make up the sand of the Uists into fine powder, the water from the loch runs down the streams and burns back to the ocean and the process starts all over again.

What a delight to be on this beach: the water channels meandering across the silver sand guide the eye towards the distant land and that intense blue above.
The small patches of weed provide a nice colour contrast in the f/g.
I can imagine you'd be reluctant yo leave the Western Isles and head home again, Dougie.
Ronnie.

A lovely expanse of sand & a big sky. Beautiful Uist image, as I remember it from fishing trips years ago - photography would be my priority now....

I can not better Ronnie's comments for content and style, nor would I wish to. Marvellous image.

I'm seeing a snake's head in the rock bottom right, drawing the water behind it.

Love the composition here Dougie of these fine sands and the streams which intersect the beaches - and not a person in sight! Smile

It looks as if the fossilised backbone of some gigantic prehistoric creature has beeen exposed in the sands, Dougie.
Excellent low pov giving a feeling of a vast emptiness.

Can just feel that water nice and cool on my feet. Then following the twisty windy channel up the sand. Beautiful.
Think I will have to stop looking at your shots, give me too many places I decide I have to see - at some point in my life Grin. Moira

Beautiful patterns Dougie, and the eye gets led very satisfactorily towards the horizon; lovely image.
