...on a little isthmus in Sutherland, Scotland. The foreground stones are the remains of a wall but the area has many hut circles from days gone by.

Once again you have shown how the land use has changed over succeeding decades, Dougie, leaving the remains of former activities which now make such interesting photographic studies, as well as a key to relatively recent history.
Oh, and by the way, all encapsulated in a truly beautiful landscape from the far north.
I know I'll never get there now, so it's great to see images from those like yourself who can.
Regards, Ronnie.

With my new found interest of ''touring Scotland'' Dougie,I checked on Google, and was interested to see the Royal Navy were frequent visitors here during World War 2.The sailors used to leave the name of the ship they served in written with stones on a hill somewhere here.I wonder if there are any ''surviving'' names left.Particulary as one of the names is HMS Hood !!
Interesting shot.

The isthmus looks like the head of a hammerhead shark, Dougie. The remains are witness to a time when this area was thriving.

The old Boys
Are all leaving
Leaving one by one
Where young birds go flying
Spread your wings and run
But over the fields
By the drystone walls
An eagle will come no more

Here's another one - matching your image.
