...one of the little surprises you can find driving along the Elgol road.

Skye is a magical place to stay and there's no doubt about that. I wouldn't want to live here because you get used to your surroundings and miss moments like this as you pass by on the way to the shops.

Only the tiny boat breaks the symmetry, with a symmetry all of its own. Gorgeous.
Your comment on getting used to one's surroundings is spot-on. We have to train ourselves to look, but after a while it palls.

They dont come any better than this. Excellent work, from the shadow on the side of the Monro to the mirror glass water. Perfectly timed.

Rather lucky that the boat was on one of the thirds. Tip top Dougie.

I second what Ron Tear said "PERFECT". Color, contrasts, content, depth, balance very easy on the eyes, yet triggers thought. Very nice work. I would like to have this in my Studio and when I teach youth. Please consider selling me a print.

Well spotted Dougie, the boat looks as though it is sailing through the sky!

Taking things for granted and looking but not seeing are two things it is difficult to alter, Dougie, as we are normally not aware of overseeing the things we, without realising it, take for granted...

A calming, tranquil image that makes one relax automatically.

I was up in Assynt a few years back Malc and a farmer came out as I was taking a shot of Suilven one of the jewel mountains and I congratulated him on his view. His repost was "I never see it". He explained that he'd seen it all his life from a lad, so he was aware of what he had said in the first place.
My two weeks in Skye of late I woke up each and every morning to the view of the Cuillin across the Loch, heaven...

I pin sharp composition with both clarity and interest in depth. The deep crystal reflections adding interest and charm to this beautiful setting.

It is a super image and I think they put that red boat there just for you. So with the reflections you had everything going for you that day.
Regards John.

I wonder how often L. Slappin is as mirror flat as here, Dougie: you have had some very fine weather for your recent Skye expedition.

5 May 2013 - 11:40 PM

Agree with Ronnie, you've had wonderful weather up there, and came home with some great images. But this sure wasn't depending on the weather - you'd have come home with good images, anyway. Smile
