Midges Dinner Table...

By Scottishlandscapes
...looks placid if moody, but i must have interrupted the midges dinner because they attacked me with a ferocity I'd not felt for a long time.

Hugely atmospheric, Dougie.
I seem to remember midges as big as mosquitoes - the De Havilland bombers not the insects - and was grateful that they preferred Moira to me Smile

Under a threatening sky, the waters of the lochan look so placid and peaceful, not a spot you'd immediately assume you'd be attacked by anything other than perhaps a mild bout of wind (in any sense)WinkWink.
The midges have been commented on by so many this year.....the indifferent weather conditions must suit them, Dougie.
Another fine composition from the Moor.
Ronnie.
Still damp weather they seem to love, they vanish to the ground with a puff of wind. The stuff from the sky.Wink

It's that stillness which brings the little b*****s out. I recognise this Highland light. Love this!

One of your images that gives such a strong sense of place Dougie. That subtle light, colour and perfect stillness are almost tangible. I feel as if I could step through the frame and on to that grass (and feel the nip of the midges)
Please accept my UA.

That's very kind Derek, thanks very much.Wink

We get midge by the sea too and they seem to like water and they're worst than mosquitoes.
Tranquil scene and nicely composed shot Dougie.

Great moody image of a place that so impresses me on trips up there. The crawly biters tend to congregate on the craggy outcrops on the tops of the hills around here, a combination of rock n dampness is their chosen habitat.

Gutsy little sods love me too as do mosquitos Sad. Have a great roll on repellent that I apply, they leave me alone then.
You always have such brilliant dramatic clouds and reflections in your shots. I never seem to achieve that Sad. Moira

More drama in the sky than in the other one, good light and reflections of the sky in the water.... I hope you know I love the moor in this conditions.
Johanna

P.S. I might not like the midges... but I think they also don't like me, cause I have never suffered under them, YET!

Lovely image . No gain without pain !Heard that this weather has been great for the midgies so their population has doubled ! Gx
