Misty Mountain...

By Scottishlandscapes
...I was driving down from Portree on Skye when I spotted the mist drifting along the Cuillin Hills and the sun catching it as it passed across Sgurr Nan Gillean.

I spent some time photographing the scene and enjoying the light show, as I turned to walk back to my car, I spotted a couple sitting in a Motor Home eating lunch and reading newspapers, the magic happening in front of them totally ignored.

...or that even non-photographers who use their eyes see!

This is stunning, Dougie! Have to polish up the old UA for this, I think!

At least you were seeing more of the mountainside here than we saw in five days when there back in 2008, Dougie: when the mist comes down there, it blots out everything.
Many Thanks for your Award Alan, I have to say I was buzzing with excitement when I saw this happening.
Couldn't get along the road quick enough to ditch the car and get at this sight.

Thanks again

I can imagine your excitement seeing the scene reveal itself! A truly magical capture ! Like to see bikes but too wary to ride a big one! I had a moped once !!!!Wink

The way people ignore their surroundings never ceases to amaze and depress me. No way could I miss this, though I might not have the wit to photograph it.
Wonderfully atmospheric; needs no further description from me.

Simply beautiful. Something that has to be watched. You have captured it beautifully, I can feel it moving.......Sandy
Ronnie thanks very much for your Award, very kind. I've been out most of the morning, hence the delay.
I'm well chuffed when I get Awards from other photographers.

Wonderful hole in the mist/clouds Dougie with just enough definition on the right to provide a wonderful focal point. Great photography.

I remember setting up the camera for a shot of Adreck Castle. Spent a while getting the right pov for the light, deciding which filters to use, should I go for bracketed? Couple drove up in a rental car, window was wound down, two hands and a point & shoot emerged at the end of a pair of arms (female), one click and they drove away without even looking at the resulting snap on the rear screen. All over in 8,9 seconds, roughly.

Malc sometimes they don't even stop, go figure.
