Reflection...

By Scottishlandscapes
...a very blue sky on Lochan na h'Achlaise, on Rannoch Moor, Scotland. The high pressure flattens the Lochs and turns them into mirrors.

It certainly is a mirror reflection ... even the rocks in the water are reflected! It's a gorgeous scene.

You're showing off with those mirror-like lochs, now, Dougie! Bet they're nothing like that when we get up there! Wink

Fabulous panoramic Smile

Dougie that is good. I'd stopped looking at panos because there have been so many bad ones here recently but this I really like. This is like one of your normal shots only bigger. Very well done.

Because it's a 'roadside' shot there have been many of this fascinating wee loch but not too many as appealing.I worked on the roads there,I worked on the West Highland Way near there. This one, Dougie, really does take me back to my 'yoof'!!.It captures the tranquility of the place [when there is no traffic!!] .Gorgeous.

I think Peter's answered the question I had in my mind when I opened this large - the contrast in the surface of the more distant water. Fascinating and very beautiful.

Dougie,
Smashing pano of my favourite lochan! You've caught it at its best - the reflections are superb. I managed to get a pretty decent pano of the same place on a more overcast day - always a different mood.
Cheers, Jon

Superb stitching technique, Dougie. What I particularly like about this is the way you've used that featureless sky to your advantage. I reckon a sky with clouds would not have reflected as well and would not have been as effective in "sandwiching" that long and spectacular strip of landscape. A beauty.

Looks as though you also had the wall to wall sunshine that we had on Skye last week. And there was me complaining about the lack of clouds! Your pic is still brilliant without them. Love the reflections and the snow capped mountains are just beautiful.
