Unusual, and great use of portrait. All that height of rock, shadow, coldness above the deer. Interesting that you've made them the focal point of a bigger picture, this is about their environment.

certainly give scale to the rocks with the deer bottom right of the picture - amazing height we never see this end of the country, no snow either as yet

What a seldom opportunity! Had a flock of deer on the road yesterday evening when I was driving home from a concert. They just stood there and looked at me for a while than they moved over and let me pass. Enjoyed that.....
