The Cottage on the Moor...

By Scottishlandscapes
...taken a while ago and never shown. I like this angle to the cottage without the large boulder in front. I recall there being a bitter wind blowing. I'm going out today no matter what, desperate for new images.

Good morning Dougie, beautiful, just beautiful....I shot a commercial once in a small cottage in Ireland in a very similar location, almost identical. (except for the snow of course)
I envy you the cool air up there, here in Dubai it's getting up into the early 40's around midday...and it's not summer yet!
The air and atmosphere are turgid giving a soft silver light which is great for shooting people but anything approaching wide the sky is so polluted that you give up.

Too hot for me David, that heat would kill me, I'm a fresh air person.

Good to see a slightly different position on this and I like the light

A common place taken by the master, that now makes it look so completely different. Dougie this awesome, fantastic light and comp. I just love the way you've given us the bigger picture

So many have posted images of this cottage with strong directional light but here you show it bathed in gentle light and with wonderful natural tones and colour. Yet it has so much atmosphere. The triangular composition with the inclusion of the rocks is also very strong. Great photography.

Yes the angle of the cottage with the sunlight emphasising its lovely homely architecture is super. Makes you want to move up there!!! Beautiful composition, colours and tones.

Nice shot, like the light on this which sets it apart from the usual pic of this rather popular location.

A well considered composition Dougie with the foreground rocks perfectly placed. Always seems to be cars parked outside when I pass by.

Glad to be the thirtieth, Dougie! There is an implied wedge shape in the composition, its point off-frame right, which is very dynamic - as if it's there to combat the storm clouds gathering....

Strange, atmospheric. There's an extraordinary contrast between the tones in the two halves of the picture, this really is two different worlds, with the cottage somehow dividing them. That boulder looks like the foot of a toppled statue.

I have seen this place so often here, can't see it often enough. Beautiful light and a very typical Glen Coe sky! Smile

Another good version Dougie. It must be hard to get a different view on this. I Like this one, the snow on the mountain does help.

Comes alive when viewed large. You can then appreciate the contrast between the golden grass and the cold mountains.

Hope you had better luck than me on your day out - I spent an hour and a half on Cannock Chase huddled under an umbrella watching the sun on fields a few miles away but nowhere near me!
