The Far Horizon...

By Scottishlandscapes
...many people from the Uist Islands emigrated to the Colonies just over a century ago, the Scots are all over New Zealand, Australia, Canada and almost every country and corner of the globe.
This wide desolate beach was just the start of an adventure for many seeking a new life back then.

You have us looking into the distant future, Dougie, and the unknown that lies over the horizon.

Archaeologists of a future era may find those tracks fossilised in the rock, and come to some very strange conclusions about our feet...
Intriguing image, full of emptiness.

The emptiness of the scene just seems to echo your intro up top, Dougie: a wide stretch of sand with nobody there and tracks leading to goodness knows where.

There is something about the Far Horizon, it just seems there has to be something wonderful when you get there. Some people just have to go and see for themselves. A lovely image, so fitting for the title Dougie.........Sandy

Wider than that Ron tractor at the least.
Many Thanks Rende, I liked the simplicity and it sparked me memory for the people who left.

It says so much about the Western Isles, Dougie, vast open spaces and beaches with hardly anybody to visit them, except you that day!! You have captured their essence.

The patern in the sand is wonderful, the track (very delicate) leads the eye to just there... the horizon.
Here's a song, the perfect match to this image:

Hope you enjoyed my friends,
