The Island...

By Scottishlandscapes
...sits a couple of hundred yards through the gate and across the burn and sand of Luskentyre Bay. The bay covers a large area guarded by a sand bar the tide hurries in here and hurries out as well, you have to watch the tides as you can be cut off on a sand bar as you explore the miles of sand.

Endless beach, plus mountains, not a bucket and spade or an ice-cream van to be seen. Doesn't really get much better.

My sort of beach, potter around, find rock pools, listen to the wind whistling.

Nevertheless still an ideal spot for strolling, exploring, getting away from it all.
There's so much to see out there Bill, you would love it, I have many close views to come.Grin

So are you still there, of did you manage to make it home in the end?
I'm back home in one piece the gate didn't manage to trap me in or out.
Harris is splendid I never fail to enjoy myself in the openness and grand vista the Scottish Islands provide.

I will have to google this place. It looks very desolate, almost like a desert with the tide out. I'm curious the size of the island and if it's populated. Looks a wonderful place to explore.

A bit too isolated for me Dougie. A couple of hours then I would be looking for a pub. Is there one?. I could sit there with a pint and think how I could get my images as good as that Dougie fellow on EPZ.

wonderful comp and fg detail dougie a cracking capture nice one Wink
The nearest boozer is 8 miles away in Tarbert Danny, this wee rock we're sitting on would be pressed to hold a bar and a few stools.
There are pubs in Stornoway but that's 43 miles away plus the 8 to Tarbert.
Plus the pubs are closed on Sundays.
Sandy best look on Google Earth and see the Bay full of wonderfully green water.

A deceptively enticing expanse of sand, Dougie. Local knowledge - especially on the subject of tides, a distinct advantage.
A cracking shot my friend.

Like your composition Dougie. You have really captured the solitude of the beach beautifully. Nice foreground detail as well.
