Hello! This is one of my sister's adorable kittens, who was not hiding under the couch! I was photographing her indoors, lying on the floor and did not want to use the pop-up flash. So had to resort to 1,000 ISO and shallow depth of field to maintain a speed that I could get away with.

Do you think the shallow depth of field is too distracing. Also, I do not particularly like the yellow ribbon in the right hand corner.

Many thanks for looking!

Hi Iva, welcome to EPZ! A gorgeous capture!

I've had a little play with it in Photoshop Elements 9. I used the 'Heal' and 'Clone' tools to remove items in the background. Then used 'Blur' just to make what I'd done blend in a little better. A quick tweak in 'Contrast' and a little sharpen. Smile Such a cute subject to work with!

The eyes are beautifully sharp, but a shame you nipped it's tail!

He he, thank you both! Smile

I wanted this to appear in the Critique Gallery, but cannot work out how, working on that now!

Cheers KarenFB, I only use the Lightroom3 to organize and tweak my photos, which does not have as many modification tools as Photoshop. So I have not yet mastered any removal tools. Wink

To put it in the Critique section you would have needed to tick the 'Critique' box as you uploaded the image. Had it been placed there, you would have got more in depth critique, but we would not have been able to vote on it! Smile

If you really want to put it in the Critique Section you can either delete this image and re-upload (ticking the 'Critique' box), everyone can do this once each day, or scroll down to the bottom of the page and 'Create a Report' - I'm sure the guys-in-the-back-room will be able to help you (not forgetting it is the weekend). Smile

I hope you enjoy your time here, any questions don't be afraid to ask, someone will know the answer! Smile

Wow, just saw your modification! You are very handy with the Photoshop Elements! Thank you, it looks miles better! Smile

I have plenty of other photos for a critique, so I'll try next time, appreciate your help!

Beautifully captured, & the focus is spot on, right on her eyes.
I didn't notice the ribbon until you pointed it out. It seems sufficiently blurred to me.

The Critique Team can somethimes come to you when a good shot is noticed!

This is a very nice shot indeed. One of the hardest things to do, since your busy looking at your focal point, is to check around the viewfinder for distraction, and move the without relying on photoshop, - its much easier!

I loaded a mod and gave the kitten a tail, - no theres no "add kittens tail" tool in Photoshop, - just a little manipulation!

Hope you like it.

You can remove and replace, and heal in Lightroom, - click Help and use Clone as the search term, it will show you how.

That's great, thank you! I will have a go and see, if I can manage some removals using just the Lightroom tools.
