'Ars Gratia Artis'

By Sezz
'Ars Gratia Artis' or Art for Art's Sake......

...... Art for art's sake" is the usual English rendition of a French slogan, from the early 19th century, ''l'art pour l'art'', and expresses a philosophy that the intrinsic value of art, and the only "true" art, is divorced from any didactic, moral or utilitarian function. Such works are sometimes described as "autotelic", from the Greek autoteles, “complete in itself”, a concept that has been expanded to embrace "inner-directed" or "self-motivated" human beings.

One from my last visit to the city. This was taken from my car window, I was just drawn to the colours. If I remember rightly, this was by Green Park on the way to Park Lane.
Thanks as always for your time, your thoughts/comments are very welcome.

Regards - Sarah x

First of all, thank you SO MUCH for the write-up. I just learnt something very interesting and that's always a good thing. Second, it's very hard to tear one's eyes away from this shot. FanTAStically captured, Sarah. Oh man...I would've loved to have been there to look at the art up close...
