'The Waiter'

By Sezz
One from my trip 'Up North' in May as I have no new material - hope to rectify that next week with another trip to Scotland, this time the Trossachs Smile

This was taken in Edinburgh, I couldn't help but peep down all the 'Closes' and Wynds' I found them fascinating.

Closes and wynds are narrow lanes running out south and north off the Royal Mile. This is why, when looking at a map, the Royal Mile resembles a fish bone. Each close has a name, usually associated with the owner of tenements on that close.

Thanks as always for your time, your thoughts/comments are very welcome
Regards - Sarah J x

Yes I would've done the same as you Sarah, I would just have to look down every one, hoping for something interesting to photograph. And you found it with this one, very nice little shot, and suits mono perfectly.

Interesting passageway and the tight crop keeps the eye focused on the bike and waiter. Like the conversion Sarah.

Iíve lost count of the years that Iíve sat on hard wooden and plastic camera club chairs on competition evenings when the many smashing visiting judges with loads of RPS and PAGB letters after their names have picked up the two pieces of mounting board (normally on offer at most camera clubs on competition evenings) and held them up against the pictures on the evening and suggested that the photographer should crop the picture - like this!!

I totally agree with them!! Long and thin in this case works a real treat. Superbly composed shot - gets top marks. Smashing.

Thanks Sarah. As photographers itís sometimes hard to crop our pictures heavily like this - but in this case I have to agree with the judges - it works extremely well. Love it.

Works well Sarah.

If you're planning a trip to the Trossachs, you should send "Landlord" Phil a pm. He's up there. He owes me a couple of favours... and pints that you can stake a claim on!

I'm sure he would be very helpful.
