  • Sunset at Sutton Bank by pgueinn

Nice shot. I am surprised that no one has commented yet! I really like this shot. You have some great colours going on and the bit of mist towards the bottom of the shot really makes the image work for me rather than just having a silouette of the tree etc. Good work.

  • Coal Tit by Marian

Great shot. You have got in really close to show the bird off in its full bloomage! My only concern is the shadows going on of the beak etc. in the background? Not sure why they are there?

Otherwise a great shot and I really like it!

  • bird in snow by BillN

Beautiful shot with a beautiful subject. Excellent stuff.

Shame you couldn't have gotten in a little closer though as that would have really made it work and gotten 10 out of 10 from me! Maybe worth investing in a 300mm zoom or a 2 x converter if you get such great subjects in your garden!

  • Mirror by Cornucopia

Welcome to Ephotozine! Nice first try with a very nice new camera! Good choice! Even from a Canon purist! Heheeee!

I am sure your subject was so pleased with you uploading this one? I know my wife would be! Heheeee! On a serious note though, have a play with the White balance settings on your camera as you have a bad tungsten cast going on (red / yellow hues) and set the camera to indoors / tungsten light! Try using RAW as well (manual mode on the camera) as you can do so much more with it (like alter the white balance after the shot). Nice firsth try though. Hopefully we will see more from you. Photography is addictive!

Stunning shot! This has everything! You have caughty the light brilliantly with great front to back focus! Excellent stuff. A classic landscape shot and how they all should be done! Perfect.

  • Geranium by Joline

Nice shot Joline. You have some good strong bold colours going on and quite a nice subject matter. For me though you could have done with a slightly higher Dof setting, maybe F8 or F11? At only F1.8 not much of the flower is in focus and the bit that is (the curled flower towards the bottom of the bunch and the flower to the left) is not where your eyes start from or want to rest. A nice try though. Maybe worth a re-shot with a smaller aperature? Just me though with what I like! Good shot.

  • PORTIMAO by dannyvo

Wow! This shot has everything, foreground interest, lead in lines, great colours, composition, sky! Brilliant!

The only thing for me is that it is so busy the eyes have no where to rest but thats a minor quibble! Excellent stuff! I really like it.

Nice shot! I have one similar of the mountains over Siberia! You have done well not to get any reflections and for a change it looks like someone has cleaned the windows on your plane! Nice shot. Well done. Shaun L

A great shot. Very simple, cheap and easy to do! Shows you don't need beutiful landscapes, expensive models etc. to make a great shot! Excellent work.

  • Central View by shlisha

Not bad, but I feel a lower view point would have helped as you have cut off the top of the buildings in the background with the tree! Moving to the left may have been better and using the path centrally to lead into the frame would have possibly worked better! Central park is a great place to take some beautiful shots but I feel this isn't one of them. You have some nice lighting and the character to the left sat down may have made a better subject! Don't be affraid to ask to take there photo! Look at the shot yourself, what do you really think of it? Its ok as a snap to remind you of the place (we all have them in our collection) but as a photo it could be vastly improved, sorry! to me its a missed oppourtunity! Good try though, keep with it! • another golden sunset by rodnee

A nice shot. You have captured the golden hues well and this has given the photo extra light through the reflection in the water. A nice shot with good lead in lines and the reeds in the water hear and there add to the scene! Obviously though a shame are the distraction of the pylons in the background as your eyes are drawn to them! Maybe worth cloning them out as for me they do nothing but detract from an otherwise beautiful sunset shot! Well done.

  • M'Xlokk by edcat

Nice shot. A good clear photo from front to back. The problem with this shot though is that it lacks composition as the eye has nothing to rest on. Maybe more use could have been made of the boat on the LH side? A missed oppourtunity perhaps?

A good try though. Keep with it.

  • A touch of autumn by G73photography

I love this shot! The flower really stands out against the darker background and the subtle lighting works really well! It has a kind of soft fairy tale to it although it looks out begging at you to pick it!

Great pin sharp focusing! Excellent framing work to. The differing colours in the border really work! I am surprised no so many clicks as this is one of the better flower shots I have seen in a while on here!

Excellent stuff. One I wish I had taken.

  • Giant Funnel Cap by ChickC

Now, I like this shot! Just about perfect for a fungi shot, lots of detail, great lighting and nice and low! Excellent stuff!

Again maybe though a higher DoF may have helped? Worth giving it a go, or perhaps have a go using the guassian blur tool in PS etc..

Great shot though. I love the angle!

Great close up macro shot seeming you are new to this sort of thing! I have the same lens and its a cracker!

Nice, such beautiful reds. Excellent image! Would look nice framed with a big black background hanging on the wall! A nice warm picture by the front door to welcome you home!

Brilliant! I am sure 30 votes and an RC on its way very soon! It just catches your eye! Excellent work.

  • Brooke by DavidGresham

Excellent! I am surprised not many comments though!

The picture works just right. I love the way the corner of the building helps combine the image together! It just adds and excels the models look and stance! My sort of glamour shot! Well though out, well composed and adds interest other than just another model pose! Great work.

  • Untitled Yellow Flower by marina

    Poor little untitled yellow flower!

Excellent image though! I love the soft use of colours and great use of depth of field! Nice one! Even though most of the image is out of focus you can make out what is what! Brilliant, well done. One of many clicks I am sure.

    Great shot,

  • Iris by Rachy1821

Nice shot. Well presented. Great colours, lighting, composition, the works! Even with a heavy border doesn't detract from the shot, actually it works opposite to what it should and draws the eye into the frame! Nice work. Well done!

  • Yellow by KellyR

A nice try. I like flower shots in there own environment if you can get them! The colours are great and a good use of DoF.

Maybe if you could of, getting closer (or cropping) would have eliminated the small brown stem / twig to the top right and the base of the flower stem to the bottom left which are a little distracting! Otherwise a nice shot of a flower in its own environment. Well done.

    Nice work. An unusual subject.

Maybe a little dark at the bottom but thats me being picky! Good job. A nice clear image. Just shows what can be done without an expensive Macro lens. Good job.

  • Last Rose by Joline

    Nice shot.

I like the delecate way in which the photo has been presented. Good use of soft focus edge / Dof / Blurring around the edges. Unusual to have the flower stem coming down from above. Nice work. The black background works well to. Nice presentation and border. I like it.

    Great job.
