Cape White Eye

By ShedMan
These are notoriously difficult birds to photograph because they're so small, 10-13cm from tip of bill to tip of tail, and they never sit still for long, always flitting around from branch to branch looking for small insects.

A couple of days ago the pair that come to our garden decided to sit on the rosebush directly outside our bedroom window, less than 2m away from me and I managed to get a couple of good close-ups before they were chased away by a Black Eyed Bulbul.

This looks better at full size (I have it on my desktop now) but I'm restricted to a maximum width of 600 pixels here so I hope it looks OK.

What a pretty little bird, never seen one of these before, and perfectly captured - thank you for sharing with us.

Thanks for your comments Chris, much appreciated. You won't see them in the UK, they're native to South Africa.
