Dive of Death

There's a Black Shouldered Kite that likes to use the powerlines near our house as hunting perches. I've already posted a photo of it hovering but this one of it diving took much longer to process as there was a horribly distracting background of the powerlines which had to be cloned out very carefully. I hope you all like the result.

On this occasion it was unsuccessful, flying back up from the long grass with nothing in its talons. Maybe next time...

Fantastic image! Well-timed capture.

I can recommend a program called 'Wire Pilot' for getting rid of wires in the background. It's very easy to use and you can download a trial versin for free. It doesn't cost a lot anyway.

You have terrific control and great skill.
and an exceptional camera.
Canon should pay you big bucks for this and use it for marketing.
