Spotted

I'm slowly - very slowly - working through my images from South Africa. What a fabulous country - a real mecca for a photographer.

Ok, time for honesty, this image of a Cheetah was taken in a game reserve specialising in conservation and not in the wild per se. Still its an image I am happy to have taken, and one I am honoured to have had the opportunity to have had the chance to take. This particular female is in the last stages of her preparation to be released into the reserves karoo to help maintain control of an ever growing springbok population. I had the chance to see her run... the experience was exceptional (and I have a few images to remember it by to boot).

Cheetah's are particularly susceptible to climate change, and have become endangered as a consequence of a loss of habitat and persecution from their human neighbours. They are a truly wonderful cat - famous for the specialism of speed, but special for so, so much more. Its fair to say that I have completely fallen for this species. So much so, that my wife and I are currently looking at opportunities to spend more time out in South Africa working with them. Keep your fingers crossed for us...

Have a great bank holiday.

Adam

Great shot Adam, where you take the photo is not important, it's the quality of the image, which in this case is excellent, well done

Superb image - I especially like the light and pose.

Yes, it is easier in such reserves but it's a great shot regardless.

I don't know how I missed this one, but am glad I've seen it now because it's so beautiful, the cheetah looks relaxed and the atmosphere is hot.
