I've had the 85mm 1.8 for a while but sadly it does not come out very often.
I think it's sadly neglected and certainly need to use more often.
I've hardly done anything for nearly 2 years due to illness but there's no reason why I should not begin again very soon.

    Best regards,

  • Merry Christmas. by shishidog

Hope you had a lovely Christmas and have a productive new year.
I've had a very bad 2 years with covid and then looking after my daughter's family and then having my own health problems but things are looking up now and 2022 should be better.
Things have changed a bit though in 2 years and I've lost many contacts with the models I used so have to start again from scratch.
    Always optimistic though,

The old masters of photography only had chemicals and soft focus lenses that were very slow and yet they produced some amazing results.
Today we have fast lenses, hi dynamic range and definition that the old masters could only dream would happen and yet I think that we have lost something in this modern wave of photographs.
Would you judge a photo by how much detail it showed or what kind of mood or emotion it produced?
This photo is my attempt to recreate the simplicity and project mood rather than hi definition seen in some of the old masters.

  • Lovely when wet. by shishidog

The shot was done in a studio. The water was fed from a container and the lights were rigged so that any movement of them would cut the electricity to them.
The shoot had to be done in about 2 min.
    The model survived.

Thank you. I was trying to copy something I saw from Adam Gibbs on You Tube.
I love those photo tutorials from people like Adam Gibbs, Gavin Hardcastle, Thomas Heaton, Nick Paige , Mads Peter Iverson and several more.

  • European firebugs by chavender

I went to Belarus and saw these busy colourful little insects. The locals call them 'Fire engine Beatles' because they are always in a hurry to get somewhere.

  • A morning walk by shishidog

I thought the reflection of the clouds on the wet beach was amazing so frantically opened my camera bag to capture the moment before the figure walked by.
I don't think the camera has really captured the lovely light and reflections that were about but I'm still very happy with the photo.
