A couple of thoughts immediately spring to mind - the right hand side is quite devoid of detail, when compared to the gorgeous rim lighting on the deer itself and the roots on the left. So (and remember, this is just my personal opinion) you could either try and bring out a bit more detail on the right, to balance the image more, or alternatively crop part of the right hand side away. (Say, to just behind that barely there tree trunk.)

Yes, that would make this more of a square crop format but I don't think that would matter, given the strength of the main subject.

I really like it, because it's a different view of a deer. Mono, for a start, and the rim light and hints of mist make it wonderfully atmospheric. It's like a glimpse into a gentle, magical world where if you breathe too hard, it'll disappear in a heartbeat Grin

I agree with Tanya about the crop but as seasonal photos start to get posted on the galleries, this will stand out as being on its own.

An excellent use of backlight.

I'd actually crop the light at the top off too, but that's just me. Very beautiful image. Wonderfully atmospheric.

A slight crop then a little shadow lift to the right side but other than that, an excellent piece of work.
