By Sillu
I used the same set up as this was the same shoot,
The flash was bouncing of the roof

One for the family album Sylvester. A lovely image. Pam

This is gorgeous, and much better balanced and composed than the previous upload. We look at the face - I am old-fashioned and am really not impressed by the flower head dress, but it sits discreetly behind the head, it does not dominate the image.

You used flash, and this does illustrate the problems. It looks a bit washed out on the pink flower and some of the face and chest. I wanted to reduce brightness and then work with Levels to bring back modelling in the face.

Then mono with a hint of sepia and a simple frame...

Its a lot better, well done.

For me, a little underexposed on the face, - likely due to mis-metering due to the bright blanket.

Mod is brighter, desaturated, slight crop,

What a super job. The first of many to look back on in years to come.

The mod I have added a more vintage look with vignette and soft focus. Hope you like it.

Mod 3 is good yet your original is fine. Rich skin colour. Beautiful rest serenity of the very young. TG

This is much better technically, although the face could be a bit brighter and the flower and top of blanket burnt in a bit. Just a few minutes with the dodge and burn tools.

I'm sure parents love these and there is great business potential.

Personally.........

Willie's mods perfect this - the exposure for pale skin is crucial, and you need to be really careful about fine-tuning it in the caemra, and then in processing.

Thanks a lot guys !!! Smile
What should i do in your opinion about the burned blanket and face ? Should i put a difuser on top of babby ? Dont forget the bouncing flash

I'm assuming that you want to know what to do next time, rather than processing this image further?

First, make sure that you shoot in RAW, allowing more flexibility in processing.

Second, don't have the lights close to the baby - if you have ever studied physics, you'll know about the inverse square law, which tells you that the exposure changes by a factor of four (two stops) if the distance halves or doubles. So a few inches change will alter the exposure a lot, if the lights are close. Frankly, there's no substitute for big softboxes a few feet away - I'm guessing, with speedlights, that they are only a couple of feet back, and that really does give you problems.

Finally, check the exposure, and make sure it is precise. The histogram on the camera back, when you review files, is incredibly useful.
