Shag & Fledglings

By simon_stacey
Shag fledgelings look quizzically at their mother.

I have to write a disclaimer for this one. I'm not a wildlife photographer, in fact this is the first time I've attempted it (I'm not begging for compliments either though). However I went up to the Farne Islands last month and couldn't resist giving it a go. I was amazed that the birds seemed so unconcerned about the presence of all those humans. It was relatively easy to get quite close, and it gave me an opportunity to try out the long end of my new 18-200 lens. The pictures aren't the sharpest you'll see, but it was great fun and a very exciting experience. Who knows, perhaps this will open up a whole new area of photography for me?
