A12 traffic trails

By simon9924
Having seen some good examples of traffic trails on this site I thought I would have a go myself. I enocuntered one problem along the way - my tripod isn't quite tall enough to clear the barriers on bridges. Careful balancing on 2 of the legs was required, new tripod on my shopping list!

Good attempt Simon, but you're gonna need that suitable 'pod to do a longer exposure if you want smoother trails. Also, if you want to make the signs a feature they'll need to be lit, or take the pic at sunset. And finally(!), if poss., try getting the lanes more balanced at the bottom of the image by changing position - I cursed myself for missing this point!

Have fun, Ian

Many thanks for the advice Ian. I will be getting a new tripod shortly. I didn't really want the signs to be a feature, they were just there. I suppose I could have easily 'shopped them out. Good point about balancing the lanes, hadn't really thought about that.

Great shot Simon, just to add my two pen'th work, I took a night trail shot at 9.45 in the night back in November. I captured the signs by giving the frame a long exposure (5-10 minutes), and mine came out great.

Thanks Phil, something else to try next time.
I've bought another tripod at lunchtime so will hopefully be able to put some of the above advise to good use shortly.
