Lunch 147

By SimonFletch
Greetings everyone and thank you for your votes and comments on 'Lunch 147 - The White Rhino'. A special mention goes to Isabel , whose UA "goes for the plight of endangered Rinos in this fragile Earth of ours". Talking of which, many picked up on the shiny horn of the Rhino. I suspect that it is so, because it is false. The Kenya Wildlife Service have resorted to tranquilising Rhinos, cutting their horns off and replacing them with false ones. Nairobi National Park, where the image was taken, is extremely well guarded, but has a 'corridor', where animals have access to the other wild areas of Kenya. Some of those areas are not so well guarded and KWS practice the removal of Rhinos ivory there. Ivory now being valued at over twice the price of gold... Sadly, poachers still kill these animals, to avoid tracking them again.

Many picked up on the word 'lawnmower', mentioning their garden or city size and how long it would take the Rhino to cut the grass. A White Rhino eats around 120lbs of grass a day (and drinks around 17 gallons of water). Imagine the state of your gardens and cities, with all that Rhino poo...!!

Today's 'Lunch'
This coming Saturday, we fly to the Costa del Sol for a couple of weeks, staying in Los Boliches, near Fuengirola. We have friends who run Pata Rusa Restaurant in Los Boliches - Oscar and Elena. I am therefore bound to say that their food is 'the best' - and it is..! Specialising in seafood, catering for the local Spanish population (as well as tourists), it has to be, to survive in a competitive market.

I took these images for them some years ago and they still use them in publicity. I hope, this visit, to get some better ones, but thought them worthy of a Silly Sunday 'Lunch' upload.

Have a Sumptuous Sunday, everyone ...!

Simon

They say that you should never trust a skinny chef so I have every confidence in this restaurant. Mmmmm, Boquerones, one of my favourite snacks but it just doesn't work with the UK climate.

That sooo looks like my kind of restaurant, Simon. Phwoaaar. Tummy just growled. Bah.

And I just love the decor of the place. So glad you put up V2 'cos that tiled scene with the triton is gorgeous. I wouldn't mind more sneaks at the interior, if you feel so inclined this time round Wink

Food always tastes better on holiday Simon, usually because it is. Seafood is always a good bet, especially in Spain.

Looks an inviting lunch, especially the "swor fish" Grin..just to clarify the difference between horns and tusks.....Rhino horn is not ivory but keratin ( same as our finger nails) ...the only animals with ivory tusks are elephant, warthog and hippo...

A seafood restaurant, excellent. Enticing choices on the menu.
We should have at least as good a seafood culture being an island, but sadly we don't. Mind you, a cold drizzly day in Rhyl doesn't have the same appeal, does it Grin

What delicious fish on offer, Simon, though I have to say that the Greeks can also offer a superb variety of fish dishes, too Smile Carol

I like this shot and after reading your narrative, I like it even more. Their friendship with you comes across in the facial expressions you captured.
