Naaah, pull the other one, this must be a composite of two pics?? Otherwise: poor sods who have to live there!

If this shot is authentic then it is a splendid photojournalistic type shot that will be a good weapon for local residents and environmentalists - if not
the message will only have the dubious weight of digital spin!

The shot is a composite - but not what you're thinking. It was a very dull day so I substituted the sky for a better one. But the plane really was that low. The row of houses is literally fifty feet from the edge of the runway and while I was stood at a bus stop there must have been about 12 aircraft that came in to land.

Good grief! how do they cope ... I see the house has got an aerial .. they actually manage to watch TV too with all that noise? though I guess they'd have to use the subtitle facility one heck of a lot .. and how do they SLEEP???

The people living there must be enthusiasts as not only is there the noise but also the front of the house faced down the runway and the landing lights must be awful at night.

This almost has impact in another sense! The plane is probably higher than it looks. No tiles appear to have been shaken off by vibration, as far as I can see.

The planes are a bloody pain in the rear. This row of houses is due to be pulled down soon due to the increase in heavy air traffic at the airport. We live a little further away in heald green and still suffer damage from some of the heavier, older aircraft.
This is by far the best image I've seen from Manchester Airport in a long time.

All those comments and no clicks! It still impresses me and it's better than any of mine taken in the same place! Wink
