Pretty good for your first attempt - well done, and welcome to the world of Macro!

Oh, and it's a type of hover fly; definately not a hornet.

We are seeing lots of these of late and I think this is one of the better ones. Lovely background which compliments the colours of the main subject. Philg

Great macro. I spent ages in the garden the other day but got nothing like this - damn things wouldn't keep still. This has lots of fine detail, sharp where it needs to be and diffused where it doesn't.
