Spent another day down with the Kingfishers on the local brook.I have strong concerns for the male as the only parent I have seen is the female. She was back and forth feeding the brood with larger fish. Some of these fish have been upto six inches.I know the male can go off to build a second nest site but this as been excavated about three foot from the original. The female looks a little bit jaded at times because the brood is very vocal and appear to be demanding more. They are now twenty four days old and should fledge any day.I hope the male as not succumbed to the fate of the Sparrowhawk.
