Blood Red Evening

By Skinz
This image was taken at Portnaluchaig not far from the small Golf Course there (it's Scotland after all). Portnaluchaig is very close to both Mallaig and Arisaig, being on the coastal road between the two places. I found it by accident and am really impressed with the loaction, it's one I'll be returning to.

Back to the image, what you're seeing here is a true record of what happened. It's not boosted in Photoshop, in fact, I've toned it down a little as the RAW image seemed too red for once. The sunset over the Isle of Eigg and as it dipped below the island everything went this blood red colour. The light was streaming between Eigg and Rum (as you can see) and the clouds went a really dark purple/red colour that I've never seen before.

I hope you like it.

Never managed to see the late sunset at this marvellous spot Rich, the gold course was a huge surprise to me too on my first visit. Marvellous colour on these two wonderful islands in the Western isles.

Thanks all,

@ Dougie - mate, if you have the right conditions then it's a stunning place to be at that time of night. Just watch the tide - it was coming in fast but I'd checked out the land first and knew I was safe from being cut off - there was a better place but I could see that it was a tidal island of rock. As the tide came in I was happy I'd picked my spot well, it sure came in fast Tongue.
