Reaching Out III

By Skye24Blue
This is the Archibald Fountain set against the spires of St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney's Hyde Park.

The Archibald fountain was erected in Hyde Park North in 1932, a gift to the City of Sydney bequeathed in the will of J F Archibald. It is intended to commemorate the association between Australia and France in world War one, and is the work of French sculptor Francois Sicard. It depicts a bronze Apollo surrounded by other mythical figures. Horses’ heads, dolphins and tortoises exuberantly spray jets of water. (Tony Smith / City of Sydney)

Have a great week ... Mac Smile

A striking image, the deep blue of the sky complements the colour of the catherdral spire and the fountain links the elements together well.

Oh Mac,
This is stunning. The water looks almost like feathers and the lighting on the steeples make it look like it is made of gold and the blue so clear and rich accents it perfectly. You definitely have my vote. It will look amazing in a magazine, I have no doubt.
Best Always,
Mona

Hi Mac, this is a good image, but somehow something feels wrong. Imo Archibald is leaning too much to the left. I made a mod and indeed, when you rotate it about 3° to the right, Archibald looks happier! I needed to give it a little more sky to the upper right, but that's no problem at all, as the sky is a spotless blue.
Hope you don't mind me saying this, as it really is a good image and worth winning the prize!

Great shot Mac; love the length of exposure getting that water movement just right.
Being overly critical, there are some jpeg articacts for us on the edges of the spires which obviously aren't an issue, but there also looks to be some green fringing on the right hand edges. And I think I'd personally prefer a little less saturation and lose a few % of the red to bring out the brickwork and rotate 1.5° to get the spires straight.
That's sounding a lot worse than I'm intending as their all very minor things and mostly personal preference, but hope it's helpful

Nicely presented Mac. Like the pov and the lighting. My only critique is to query whether the statute and spire are upright. They look to be slightly sloping to the left. Might just be my post Christmas eye sight. Happy New Year to you. John

Tremendous but it would be tremendouser if you could make the statue verticalbut I don't know this location and in fact he may be leaning in reality.
However you submit it I wish you good luck and whatever anyone else thinks the thing that matters most is that you like it.
Good luck.
