I always look forward to the Veolia Wildlife Photo winners exhibition but I was quite disappointed with it this year. Some years you come out having been completely blown away by the quality but for me this time nothing particularly caught my eye. I certainly didn't think the winner should have won. I can only remember three pictures. My favourite was of a squirrel which won the Urban category. Oh, and a lion asleep during a storm. That was good. And I liked the Crow (or raven or rook, can't remember) in the snow.

And another thing, what have they done to the Diplodocus!!! It used to stand proud in the entrance hall with a small loose rope around it, now they've turned it into a money-making contraption. It's now mounted on a wooden platform with a TV display in front of it and to the side is a money machine, and when so much money has been donated the poor thing lights up like a disco! I'm so cross. They've spoilt the Cutty Sark doing the same crass childish and touristy stuff. Anyway, if you haven't seen this new outrage here's a pic. (Note to self - have a cuppa and calm down). Oh, and the TV flashes "Light Up Dippy!" I ask you ..... Sad

I only had about 15 minutes to nip into the museum for a quick look but did notice Disco Dippy - well a bit hard to miss. I'll have a quick look on my card and see if I can find a disco pic to upload - not very dignified at all!

Next time I plan to spend a few hours exploring the museum - unless the weather is nice in which case I hate being indoors Smile

Just before I got there the total had reached 3 or something and the lights were all going off. I couldn't be bothered to wait around until the next session. Perhaps when it reaches 10 you get disco music to go with it. Wouldn't be surprised. Grin

I happened to be a the far end when the lights started and they really weren't that awe inspiring. Sadly I had a coach to catch in 10 minutes so wasn't able to linger!

oh dear, why do they do it? Sad Its amazing enough as it is, bit like the new Kings Cross why they have to 'bathe' that in horrible purple light I wonder?!

I can see why they think they need to do it, but kids are captivated by dinosaurs anyway without the need to add flashing lights etc. A long time since I've been there... maybe a return is long overdue. On a different note... I actually like the purple light in Kings X... I went there when it was off once and was quite disappointed. OMG, maybe I'll like disco dippy!! Tongue
