Fairford One

By smithmgj
Now my knowledge of 2nd World War fighter aircraft is no the best, but I believe this is a Mustang fighter. Taken at this year's Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. An absolutely amazing day out for anyone with an interest in aircraft.

I know nothing about planes at all, and detest the unecologigical gas (tax exempt) guzzling monstrosities of today BUT this is a lovely shot of a plane from yesterday
well done

Lovely shot, nice angle! It is actually a Republic P47 Thunderbolt; probably the meanest, heaviest allied fighter of WWII. If I am not mistaken (I often am) it looks like "No Guts, No Glory" from the fighter collection. Click Wink

Super shot of a P47. Not quite so elegant as the mustang, but still a great plane!
Works really well in BW, gives it an old feel.

Realy nice work, B&W suits perfectly. One more step back if posible would have left less of a squeese to get the prop and wing in on the left.

Thanks folks. Well my knowledge of aircraft has certainly improved. I agree Chris, I was however somewhat restricted by the crowds. A little room to breathe either side is needed I think. Martin

Well captured. The cloudy background adds drama to the picture and the toning gives it a timeless quality.

Great tones, like how the figures finish the composition. A really good take.
