West Woods

By sneazy
I travelled straight from work to West Woods in Wiltshire yesterday, saving myself and extra hours drive. It was hailing/heavy rain on the way..... I got there and the normally carpeted areas of bluebells looked over grown with low lying plants Sad

I wandered further into the woods and found some wonderful areas of bluebells, what I have seen every other year I have visited. I set about taking bluebell photographs when I was startled by the call of a male Pheasant. I spotted it and changed to my 70-200 lens. I managed to get surprisingly close without spooking it. I took a number of shots including some of the Pheasant practising his call.

Oh and I got bitten to near death by midges! Had to put my hood up to stop them biting. The showers eventually subsided giving me some peaceful photography in these beautiful woods.

Well worth all the midge bites, lovely bokeh with this image and the contrast in colour between the bluebells and the pheasant work like a dream.....Top Class...

I love how nature throws up opportunities, if we make the effort, despite inclement weather! I like the atmosphere and contrast of this shot. Certainly a very considerate subject to have appear, for your efforts! Well done! Smile
