Hoar Frosted Blossom ...

By SocksAndStuff
... in my garden this morning.

Nature outdoes us every time with her beautiful decorations. Visiting the in laws today, we drove through a crystallised world sparkling out of the foggy air, and I couldn't help thinking how beautifully Mother Nature does her decorations. As we rose above the fog-line the grey-white eeriness lay thick beneath the cold blue sky and then we were down in the fog again. Luckily Andy was concentrating on his driving because as we rounded a corner on this relatively quiet country road, there was a sudden line of slow moving traffic ahead of us - immediately we thought the worst, but soon became aware of why everyone was at a crawl. The tree tops above the fog-line were suddenly casting down large clumps of hoar-frost which was hitting the windscreen with some force - quite dramatic for a short time and leaving patches of very slippery ice on the roads directly beneath the trees. Glad everyone was being careful or the day might not have continued as beautifully as it has begun.

Hope you're all being careful out there, especially if you're on your way to Scotland to celebrate Hogmanay (what a lovely idea). Yes, New Years coming up quickly now - have a fantastic time all Smile
