Purple Hairstreak 'Favonius quercus'

By SocksAndStuff
Purple Hairstreak in our back garden in Staffordshire. She's a little bit worse for wear but didn't have any difficulty flying. They spend most of their time in the top canopy of Oak Trees, so we were lucky that she came down into our garden to take a well needed drink of water. Have seen a male about too, but haven't been lucky enough to get a shot yet.

Beautifully detailed captures Helen, she's definitely been in the wars.

A rather drab and careworn looking creature Helen but beautifully focussed and presented. Well spotted
