This is stunning. Being a "Pre-Raphaelite" lover this has captured that with a camera. Great job.

I agree with Robert, a stunning image with a superb painterly (is that a word?) quality

A well photographed young lady.

When I noticed it in the main gallery I thought she was holding a glass or red wine. Almost immediately in my mind one connection looked very natural. The colour of the wine should stain the colour of her lips.

But when seen on its own and realising she is holding a red rose I was still uncomfortable with the colour of her lipstick. A blonde girl in a yellow dress with a pale lipstick. No contrast, no excitement.

So now I kept wondering yellow dress... and a blonde girl... shouldn't she be in a back dress? Blonde girl, red lipstick, black dress. Contrast, raised to the power of three. I am still considering this... Black dress, red lipstick, young girl. Young girl!!!

But of course, this makes absolute sense! Scrap the black dress. Young equates to fresh. Green is the colour associated with freshness! Change the dress colour to a green! It mirrors the rose she is holding! And then the lips get a red tint! Green eyes, green stem and leaves, green dress!

Red lips are the best choice. Contrast wins emphatically and naturally!

In processing, I did try adding more red to her lips, but decided it made her look a bit 'cheap and tarty'! Maybe I didn't do it very well. Anyway, I quite like the pale and interesting look.

It's your picture after all. Trust me, I wouldn't have said to go for red lips if the rosebud was yellow. I just thought it would mirror the flower well.
