Ancient Cottonwood Tree

By soppygreatdane
Taken under the sacred Cottonwood Tree near the banks of Red Deer River. Native tribes would lie their dead on the branches of this tree for spirit protection.

This was taken in Late June 2010 at Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta Canada.

What a wonderfully convoluted tree branch. No wonder the natives thought it was special.
