Grand Canal

By sospan
This image is of the Grand Canal taken from the Rialto Bridge. The city is slowly waking, the only signs of life are the street cleaners and slowly making its way up the canal, the number 1 traghetto. The air has a distinctly autumnal feel, the receeding fog lends an atmospheric air to the scene. I was entranced by the stillness all around, for there were no tourists and the reflections of the lights in the dark waters of the canal. A super time to witness the faded glory of this old lady of the Adriatic.
Enjoy the remainder of this weekend and wish you all a good week ahead.

This was certainly worth the early morning rise. What wonderful atmosphere and reflections. One of the best canal shots I've seen.
