  • Red Grouse by jaymark1

Love this shot. Reminds me of my youth, living in Mid Wales, I used to go trekking up the mountains early in the morning to witness the grouse. Fascinating creatures.

Totally eye-catching. I can't work out whether its all real or not, but I guess that doesn't really matter. I wish I'd been there to see this in the flesh.

  • part of... by jacquienewsham

I do like the composition, but I feel the central 'leg' needs to be absolutely in the centre of the image, which it isn't quite. Still gets my click.

The exposure is excellent; you could easily have had the foreground too dark, but it isn't and gives the image a really soft quality to the lighting. Ever so slight vignetting though...

Looks Photoshopped, but I am guessing from your description that it is not.... and I like that!

  • Running Away by Spike68

Thanks for your comments, guys. I have tried some of your ideas, especially Tim's. Sorting out the perspective of the window has indeed improved the image; strange, I didn't even spot that! I also darkened the window, but it seemed to remove some of the impact (and thus emotion) of the image. And Hannah, don't worry I have removed the border... you were spot on!

Anyway I am glad some people liked it; in my profile I say I am still seeking that elusive first good photo of my daughter. I hope I have now achieved that. I just hope she won't try to run away again!
