Barrow Hill Roundhouse

By spikemoz
I went to Barrow Hill today to see a great collection of famous locomotives. In these uploads there are 60009 Sir Nigel Gresley, 62005 Lord Of The Isles, 60532 Blue Peter, 60163 Tornado and 60009 Union Of South Africa. At various times throughout the day, they were either working the shuttle train or moving about in the shed yard. A great day and the people at Barrow Hill deserve many thanks for their organisational skills in putting on this spectacular show and coping with the vast numbers of people attending. This must be the largest number of people ever to visit Barrow Hill. I was also astonished by the large number of visitors who were not railway enthusiasts.

Spike.

V2 shows the human interest but V1 & V3 are simply timeless images, I can smell the steam oil and coal smoke (and I'm one of the 'not railway enthusiasts', a healthy interested but not an enthusiast).
Great scenes well captured.

V1,V3,V2 in that order Spike. V1 is so reminiscent of a shed scene from the old days. I bet it was a great day out that stirred a few memories for you.

An excellent set of images.
I'm not a steam enthusiast but I love anything technical or mechanical and these beauties are both.

Thanks for all the votes and comments, they're much appreciated.

With this many locomotives in steam and the constant locomotive movements, the sights, sounds and smells brought it all back. It doesn't get much better than this, a great day!

Brilliant first photo (v1). I like the way how they were lined up too. My Dad also liked v1.
Thanks
Matt
