Mansfield Shed

By spikemoz
The low setting sun in my last upload reminded me of a picture I took 53 years ago on a beautiful warm summer evening at Mansfield Shed (16D). The Stanier 2-6-0 No 42945 had arrived earlier that day with a holiday special from Blackpool and was going to pick up the empty stock and return. As far as I know, this was the only time a locomotive of this type ever visited Mansfield. The steam raiser had just been around the depot lighting the gas lamps and the setting sun bathed everything in a warm orange light. I was using a Kodak Brownie box camera and I was amazed at the result.

I'll be away for a while, so thanks for all the votes and comments, they were much appreciated.

Spike.

I used to have one of these as well.
