The Calm Before Ciara

By St1nkyPete
Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland.

The death rocks lived up to their name today after losing my footing and smashing my wide angle lens to pieces. Luckily my camera is still intact as the lens took the full brunt of the impact. I had only been there 20 minutes and had only taken a handful of shots so had to pack up and head straight back home in a huff. It could have been a lot worse I suppose and at least I can look forward to a brand new lens through my insurance. Here's one of the few shots I managed to take before it all went Pete Tong.

These things do happen especially on wet northern rocks. Nice capture though before the incident

Great image and you have got the timing spot on.

Sorry about your lens as I know that feeling when I dropped my 50 mm a few year back only to see it break up on impact. You couldn't talk to me for the rest of the day...

At least you are in one piece! When we were there last year I opted for self preservation after trying to struggle over the rocks for a while, so never got a shot of the lovely curve of rocks leading to the castle.

Those rocks are so slippery. Excellent exposure.

I've taken one from a very similar position. With the rising tide and feeling very precarious on the rocks I only managed two shots before giving it up as too risky. At least you got something for your efforts.

At least you survived !! Pete. Lenses can be replaced unlike you or your limbs. Good result !! though, was there an N/D filter on the lens ?
Hope the rest of the day goes with out incident SmileSmileSmileSmileSmile
