Shellness lies just south of Leysdown on the Isle of Sheppey. The broken shell and rocks on the upper part of the beach hide a lower layer of sticky silt. Beware and take a good pair of wellies.
I have been to Leysdown on many occasions, but have never truly admired it from this perspective, great image.
wonderful light derek brilliant colours and tones love the fg detail and water movement a stunner top shot
I've been there Derek but I've never seen it looking this beautiful.
Like the light and tones in this Derek, good one
Worth the discomfort Derek ( cleaning those wellies off !!)
I've yet to see an image of yours Derek that hasn't got the 'wow factor'. This shot maintains that fine tradition.

Very well put.
Not the easiest of circumstances to take pictures, and not the easiest to get a good composition, but this works very well
Lovely dark tones, Derek, shows of the creamy water well, a well-composed and dramatic sunrise (?).

Never mind cleaning off the wellies Ron, I nearly lost one completely after walking into a very soft spot and struggling to lift my foot out. I made a hasty retreat to the upper part of the beach.

Yes it was sunrise Dave, this beach faces due East.
Thanks to everyone who has commented and voted and special thanks to Andy for the UA. Very much appreciated.
Light is really stunning Derek.
Cracking photo, excellent work
A stunning shot Derek, up to your usual high standards. I have often though about heading to Sheppey when down South, but never quite knew what to expect. Seeing your shot has given me reason enough to.
A beautiful image, full of atmosphere............Sandy

Parts of Sheppey are quite industrial due to the docks but some of the countryside is lovely Harshan. The holiday resorts such as Minster and Leysdown have a reputation as being a bit "Kiss me Quick" hats and fish and chips but on the other hand their is also a private community of quite old beach houses ( dating back before WWII ) at Shellness. Some of the owners are very wealthy and a lot of them come down in the summer to sail Yachts around Whitstable Bay.
Not a part of Kent that I have spent much time in Derek, like Harshan I too find your work inspiring, must make a visit there soon - fine work from you!
Loving the light catching the wet rocks in the foreground. Super stuff.
very moody with a nice bit of light. nicely done as always.lesley
Superb Derek, the fabulous light and rich tones make for an eye catching shot, great stuff as always.
Superbly taken - Excellent long exposure seascape
Fantastic movement in the water and I love the way it's given it an almost smoky appearance in places. Wonderful light and a dramatic sky - ticks all the boxes for me!
A really cracking shot, love the detail and colour.
