I love the way that you present your equine portraits - you take them out of the 'natural' setting and put them into a 'studio' setting and give them the same treatment as a human studio shot. This makes them stand out brilliantly.
That is not to say that your technical standards are below par......far from it your use of light to bring out the details and textures is superior to many. I just think that it puts you yet another step above.

Great comment by kaybee above. I prefer ths shot to the original: not only does it remove the smaltzy feel you described, but it's a stronger composition. I like the offset composition and use of space to the right. A belter for all horse lovers to appreciate and I defy anyone who isn't a horse lover not to appreciate it anyway!
