Thanks for the comments...I played with the levels but couldn't get any improvement so this is just the raw image straight from the camera - I didn't try selectively altering just the beak tho. Thanks for the tip.

It was hard to see the beauty of this picture from the thumbnail. Wish that there were some more lights in the shadows - hope you try adjustment layers Levels ,

Tremendous potential here - the beak needs to be a bit lighter I thnk but as a novice in PS techniques I'm sure I'd struggle.
