Spurn Point

By staticanimation
The iconic remains of the former sea defenses at Spurn Point, a truly magnificent place to explore and one that is different every time thanks to the enormous force of the tide. In this shot the large concrete blocks are sections of the former road which has been scattered along the coastline by the power of the sea, for this reason access to Spurn is now on foot. This shot was taken as the tide came in (very quickly), the sand was to soft for long exposures so i climbed onto a section of the old road which offered a solid and slightly elevated base, the exposure was approx 50 seconds in total using the in camera timelapse feature on the Lumix GX7, each exposure was just under 2 seconds and the sequence was stacked in Photoshop to smooth the water into a smooth surface.

I'm really enjoying using the Samyang 12mm F2, the manual nature of the lens really helps to slow the process of taking a picture down, i feel it allows me to connect with the landscape around me more and demands that i consider all of the elements before hitting the shutter. It is a rewarding lens too, incredibly sharp at F8-F11
