Hi Steve. If you compare this with your 'Angel' shot you should see what is wrong with this one. The angel was powerful and concentrated attention on the subject. This is too small anyway, but the subject (the pink flower) is too small in the frame and there is too much distraction in the background.

Try isolating one flower head and experimenting with a small aperture, so the background is blurred. If you want to know about depth of field just do a search in the forums here, there is tons of information.
