Katie Green @FOI 2010

By SteveBaz
I attended the Focus on Imaging Exhibition 2010 earlier in the year. I got a number of shots of the lovely Katie Green on the Lostolite stand which I’ve only just plucked up courage to upload.
All the shots were taken from the edge of the stand; jostled by the crowd; flash lights going off everywhere; people trying to tell you about lighting when all everyone wanted to do was shoot Katie…so these will not be the sharpest shots you will ever see.
I hope you like my ‘1st captures’, any comments welcomed
Thanks Steve

It's a nice shot of a pretty lady. The problem at Focus, or any such event, is that you were one of dozens of people with a camera, and she is obviously looking at someone else. You need to wait until they look at you, or simply shout at them.

This is exasperated by her face being on the right, and her looking right. Better to put her to the left of your frame. Hand not a help.

"You need to wait until they look at you," Why?

I know where Paul is comming from, text book portraits are best with eye contact, but hey break the rules!

The shot says a little more about the personality, ungaurded etc. I have shot a number of 'off the cuff' portraits at long telephoto/high iso, you may not get lots of votes but, I like it.

Look at this persons pic and see what I mean.

Paul, Viki & Adam,
Thanks for these helpful & encouraging comments. I've got a few more shots from the FOI exhibition which I will uoload over the next few days; I hope these will fall in line with your kind comments.
